LA-TEE-DA!
Fragrance for the Home
|
|
|
|
|
Fill lamp about
two thirds full of La-Tee-Da fragrance with the
enclosed funnel.
|
|
|
Place
the wick assemply/burner stone into the lamp. |
|
|
Cover
burner stone with solid metal cap for a full 20
to 30 minutes. This allows the wick
and stone to fully saturate with fragrance. |
|
|
Remove the solid
metal cap and light the stone. It is VERY IMPORTANT
that the stone remain lit for at least 3 minutes,
ut you will attain best performance if lit for
5 minutes.
WARNING: Flame
can reach height of 6-8", never leave
a burning lap unattended.
|
|
|
After
3-5 minutes, blow out the flame. NEVER place the
metal crown over an open flame. |
|
|
At
this point the stone will continue burning, without
flame, and will be burning hot. It draws fragrance
up through the wick, releasing fragrance into the
air. |
|
|
Place the crown
on the lamp to avoid any potential contact with
the burner stone.
Sit back, relax
and enjoy the fragrance of your choice as your
lamp works to scent your surroundings.
|
|
|
Extinguish the
lamp by replacing the solid metal cap tightly
over the HOT burner stone assembly.
Be careful when
handling the vented crown as it will be very hot
to the touch.

|
From my own experience
in using these lamps prior to carrying them, I've
learned a few things about their usage that I've
shared below.
Hope you enjoy.

|
|
1.
|
It is essential
that you allow at least 20 minutes for the oils
to fully permeate the wick and burner stone, as
shown in Step 3 above. This procedure cannot be
rushed. You will be able to tell the burner stone
is ready to light when it appears visibly darker.
|
|
2.
|
It
is also essential that when you light the burner
stone, you allow it to flame for a sufficient period
of time. If you don't keep the stone lit for the
recommended period of time, or attempt to rush it,
the lamp will only release fragrance for a while. |
|
3.
|
When lighting
the burner stone, I have found that it will flame
easily for a minute, but may go out on you shortly
thereafter. At this point, use your lighter to
apply flame to the stone. After 30-45 seconds
or so, the stone will stay lit.
|
|
4.
|
The
lamps use approximately an ounce of fragrance per
hour that it is lit. It normally takes about 10-15
minutes to aromatize 600 sf, and about an hour for
2000 sf of space. |
|
5.
|
The
lamps work best when they are at least 1/4 full
of oil. If the lamp is almost empty, it will be
difficult to keep the burner stone lit. |
|
6.
|
Set
the lamp in an area where it will remain undisturbed,
especially when it has an open flame. The lamp oils
are highly flammable, so tipping of the lamp or
spilling of the oil should be avoided during this
phase. |
|
7.
|
The
lamps are all handmade, so they are all slightly
different. |
|
8.
|
If
you leave the lamp burning all day, you will use
a LOT of oil. I have found that a room stays scented
for quite a while after the lamp is extinguished,
and makes it's use more cost-efficient if used for
a few hours at a time. |
|
9.
|
In order to light
the burner stone appropriately, you will find
that a normal disposable lighter is insufficient.
While it will certainly work, I have found that
keeping a disposable lighter lit for that amount
of time will cause it to melt internally and will
become unusable after that. A refillable long
lighter, like the kind used to light a BBQ, will
work best without melting.
I hope to add
that type of lighter to the accessory page in
the near future.
