Introduced in 2004, the Hybrid has been
rated a 90 by Cigar Aficionado and 91 by Cigar
Insider. By mixing a Cuban and Connecticut seed
specifically for Padilla Cigars, A.S.P. Enterprises
and Ernesto Padilla have created this unique hybrid
wrapper in Ecuador. It marries the qualities of
subtle character found in Connecticut seed, to
the fuller bodied profile of Cuban seed. The filler
blends Nicaraguan ligero, volado and seco tobaccos
with a rarer Peruvian tobacco, for a complex,
medium to full-bodied smoking experience. Like
other Padilla offerings, the Hybrid line sports
a beautiful wrapper, this one a tasty reddish
brown that we thouroughly enjoyed.

Aged for a year between triple fermentations,
this wrapper is grown in San Andres, Mexico, home
of the richest maduro tobaccos in the world. The
filler tobaccos from Peru and Nicaragua are cedar
aged for four years to complement the robust and
complex wrapper. We found this cigar to be full-bodied
and spicy, with an easy draw, even burn and lots
of smoke.

The leaf for this delicate wrapper is
grown by A.S.P. on the well-respected Cajusca
farm in Ecuador. We found this cigar to be flavorful,
yet creamy tasting. It produces lots of smoke
and the draw was perfect. It's a perfect morning
cigar, or great for anyone who likes mild to medium
bodied cigars.
